We put the kids to bed tonight and they just stayed in their room giggling together for like 15 minutes. It was so funny! We have been potty training Rylan this week and it is going so great. Potty training always brings me anxiety because, well come one, it's just no fun to do. It's one of those parts of parenting that sucks. But it's going surprisingly well. We've talked about it and "prepared" him for it until I felt he was ready, and he's doing so well I'm shocked. He uses Brooke's pink little potty but that's okay. It's actually a bonding activity because I'm spending so much time right next to him so he goes all the time and he gets lots of high fives and "knucks". So we've actually spent more time at the house lately because of it and it's been kinda nice. We did got to a Luau birthday party at Jacque's house last night and it was fun. The kids were so cute in their Hawaii garb and the food was all amazing.
Judd and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary Friday. Yay! Anniversaries are cool because we got to just celebrate us and our love and talk about our memories and dating and our wedding and everything. It was so fun! We went to Which Wich on the Boardwalk (love that place) and then saw a sucky movie (Larry Crowne) then had awesome yogurt at Orange Leaf and then to his mom's house to hang out in the hot tub with some martinelli. His mom was so nice to come to our house and watch the kids for us. He wrote me a really sweet card too! I'm married to an awesome guy that loves me so much and is a great husband and father!
I found a lady to watch Rylan and Ava when I start work again from Craislist. Her name is Whitney Thompson and she is wonderful. She watches kids at her house while she homeschools her own kids and is so loving and great with kids. She's only $25/week per kid too!! I went to her house and felt really good about it. It's a relief to now know where they will be.
I've been thinking about how much I love my family and how neat it is that my world revolves around them and their lives revolve around me. It's like everything I do is for them and to develop them and help them to grow and be prepared to have their own families. And so is the circle of life. My parents did everything they did to help me be prepared to be a great wife and mother and person and the now the cycle continues. Judd and I got to talk about the temple and our wedding in Primary today too. We went to the Spanish group meeting at church today and the kids were much better and the spirit was really strong. Ana our old babysitter is in it. We got our temple recommends renewed this week and it was a nice feeling to answer those questions and know we're living our lives in accordance with the gospel. Obviously we have our imperfections, but we are striving to live like our Savior and keep our covenants. I'm just so thankful for the temple and its blessing and for a loving Heavenly Father that has given us them.

So far this summer has been amazing! It's flying by as they always do for teachers, but it always reminds me why I love teaching! Summers off are AWESOME! I love being a stay at home mom for a while. It really is the best. It is completely exhausting, but completely fulfilling. Like now, for example, it's after 11:00 at night and this is my time to get some things done and relax. All the kiddos are in bed - including Judd - and I have some peace and quiet. I love peaking in on my kids sleeping. I look at them in amazement and just smile thinking to myself how blessed I am and of all the joy they bring me. They bring me utter exhaustion as well, but SO much bliss and fun!

While they are sleeping, one thing I'm doing is working on some new zumba songs. I teach 4 classes a week at Element and sub at WK and teach a kids zumba at WK which Brooke gets to take! It's so much fun and it really does work! I'd probably be losing more weight but Judd is doing this 3 month no sugar challenge, so I'm eating his portion of all the goodies. Not that I have that much around, but I like to make whole wheat chocolate chip cookies for the kids (Rylan could seriously live off of cookies). It's funny, he talks so much at the house but around other people he doesn't say much until he's really comfortable around them.

My kids are such good sports going to and fro all the gyms I teach at during the summer. The extra money really helps tons. At least they have fun and enjoy all the gyms, but it is some work loading 3 kids in and out of the car. I've been teaching a lot at Schumpert too and started subbing at the YMCA. I get a free membership at all these places and great discounts for kids' things at the Y. Brooke did Camp Forbing while I was in Utah visiting Megan and my family out there.

It was a good trip. I hadn't been out there in 2 1/2 years. I got to go for free since I had a voucher from my free trip to Paris. I love free things!! My kids also just finished taking swim lessons at the YMCA. It's amazing how much they improve in a year. Today they started free swim lessons at Querbes. We were the only white people there, but hey we had an instructor all to ourselves. Maybe people didn't know about it or something. They are at 8:00 a.m., which is early, but I don't want us all getting used to sleeping in so it'll be easier when school starts.

Everyday I wonder how I'm going to survive BEING at work at 7:00 a.m. this next school year! What?! Craziness! Judd will have to be the morning man and get everything taken care of for them. I'll be at Parkway teaching Spanish, but at least I'll get out at 2:30. It feels good just to say where I'm going to be next year because for the longest time I had NO clue what I wanted to do. I liked First Baptist and all and I loved teaching kids P.E., but I can't coach basketball and don't have the time for it (and I need to make more money), so I needed to figure out something. I thought long and hard about working for Edward Jones as a Financial Advisor, but felt like now wasn't the time (if ever). I just got my Masters Degree in Kinesiology and Wellness in May from LSUS (Woohoo!) and it seemed to make sense that I do something with that, but I couldn't find anything with it that paid better and had better benefits that teaching did, so until Judd's job provides benefits it's teaching for me.

I do love running into kids I taught though because they actually get excited to see me and I feel I made a difference. One of the kids I took to Costa Rica actually died last week in a car accident and it's just an awful feeling to think what his family is feeling and going through right now. I just know life is fragile and we need to use our time wisely. We are in a probationary state being tested to prepare to meet God. I want to live my life so that I am prepared to meet Him.

After much thought and prayer I felt like Parkway was where I needed to be (it's just a one year sabbatical job but that's great with - hopefully I can find something in P.E. at that point). They actually called right after I got out of the temple where I felt it was right. My mom and I got to go to the Bountiful Temple together in Utah. She was out there visiting her parents because they aren't doing so well. I'm just so glad I'm done with school. The past 2 summers I was taking classes at LSUS.

The only class I took this summer was a 2 week sewing class for fun at LSUS. The last time I took a sewing class was when I was 12 years old with Megan and we hated it. Now I REALLY want to learn and it was so cool to make a pillowcase for Buddy (Rylan) and LSU pajama pants for Judd that he actually loves! I'm still a BEGINNER but it's very rewarding because it seemed to intimidating to me and like it was another language. In fact, the only thing that gave me hope that even I could learn to sew was the fact that I learned how to speak Spanish, which I thought would be impossible. I'm working on a purse right now - we'll see how that goes.

My bread and rolls just came out of the oven and it smells soooo good in here right now. Yummy! It's a great recipe. Wow - I feel so cheesy right now talking about sewing and cooking. Oh - speaking of cooking, I love that I'm in a freezer meal swap right now which some girls from church. It is so awesome! We each make a few meals and multiply it by however many families are in the group and then swap! My freezer is stocked with dinners. It save money and time! Love it! I made salsa and canned it with Katie Geldmacher again this summer. Homemade salsa is the best!

Judd and I are celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary this Friday! Yay! We've been having so much fun together. I surprise him for father's day and took all of us camping to Lake Claiborne. We borrowed his mom's RV and I had us all packed up and he had no idea. He was so excited because he's been wanting to go forever. The RV was great and it was so fun to just have some good family time and play at the beach and stuff. It was short and sweet.

We just went to Dallas this weekend for Brent and Laura's baby blessing for Camilla. We had fun seeing everybody! It's rare that we all can get together. The kids are good little travelers too. For the 4th of July we just went to Southern Trace and played in the pool and tennis. It was fun - I think that's a family tradition.

I decided that Brooke will go to Shreve Island for kindergarten next year. I'm excited about it because it's a really good school and it's year round. I haven't figured out yet where Rylan and Ava will be, but they are on a lot of waiting lists and I know something will work out. I hate that I have to go back to work because I'm having so much fun with them. Ava is getting so big and started crawling! She even pulls herself up on things too. She has the biggest smile and is just so cute! I'm trying to potty train Rylan right now and he's been doing okay at it. It's hit and miss (literally, he misses some times but that's okay). He is just a big ball of energy that has us constantly cracking up! Brooke is really growing up. Almost 5 years old (she lets everyone know how old she is and when her birthday is)! She is such a good helper and loves being the big sister. We all go to the library together, the park, sci-port, kid city, friend's houses, free lunches at Broadmoor Middle School (yay - free! - haha). I try to do everything with them except shopping - that is disastrous! Judd helps out so much. I've even been playing on tennis leagues this summer, which has been nice since it's been a whole year.

Memorial Day we went to Houston for Ammon's graduation and it's always fun to see all the cousins there. Then we went to my parent's and they rented this big blow up slide thing that was awesome for the kids! Wow - I don't remember anything like that as a kid! These grandkids sure do get spoiled! Groupon and Living Social deals are my new best friends! I love getting those things when it's a super deal!

I'm trying to start a book club/game night thing (I'd like to start bunco but we'll see if I can get that many people). I just love to socialize. I seriously thrive on it. I love reading too so this gives me an extra incentive. The book this month that Tracey picked out was amazing. I loved it. It's called Same Kind of Different as Me. I've been trying to get volleyball nights together at the church too. Not that many people have come, but it's still so much fun and a great workout! I need to do it more regularly.

At the end of May I went with Holli to Dallas so I could get spin certified and she reminded me of being a missionary and so I've been reading my old mission journals lately and it's so neat to read of all the many people that I met and miracles I saw. I'm so glad I kept a good journal and wish I kept a better journal now. I just know that God is aware of each of us and is so involved in our lives. He is there and He cares. Today I took some new members to the church to join the missionaries and an investigator for a church tour and I felt the spirit so strong. I love missionary work and service. The new members - Ty and Sidney are awesome! I always say this, but I seriously need to update this thing way more often. Too much happens and I can't even remember it all.

I have 2 more weeks left of work before summer vacations! I'm really ready for the break. I'm actually not going back to work for First Baptist Church School next year, and am not quite sure where I'll be and what I'll be doing yet. I know it will all work out but am not sure what the best thing to do is just yet. I am also getting my Master's degree in 2 weeks, so I'm pretty excited about that. I really don't even want to attend graduation, but Judd and Scott talked me into it. I hate graduations though. They are so boring! But I have worked hard and it'll be nice to celebrate it.
I love teaching the kids at my school and will really miss being with them. It was fun to be at Field Day with them last week!
I just got zumba certified last month and I love it! It's a lot of fun, but it's pretty hard to get a routine together and memorize it. It's just finding the time to practice that's challenging.
Today is mother's day and I think it's one of my favorite days. I love being a mom so much! It's a day to celebrate that honor and privilege and also a day to relax and get to feel pampered. It was cute to see Brooke sing with the primary. I loved getting cute gifts from them that they made at school. Judd made me breakfast and cleaned. I got to celebrate the mother's in my life also. My mom is so awesome and I'm so grateful for her. I get to see her tomorrow on her way up to Dallas to help Brent and Laura with their new baby that they are having tomorrow! I'm so excited for them! We went to visit Judd's mom yesterday and it's so nice to have her in town now and get together with family. The kids have a blast playing over there with their cousins Owen and Layla and Noah. We went to Judd's dad's house today for lunch with Adrian and Amanda and it was great hanging out with them. Then we went to Scott and Tracey's house tonight with Nathan and Jenny to celebrate Scott's birthday. We are so blessed to have so much family around! I'm so glad my kids get to grow up with so many cousins around. We wish we could see everyone more often.
Brooke has been playing T-ball the past few weeks and Judd has been her coach. It's been pretty fun, but I don't think she still quite gets the idea of the game. She doesn't really pay attention when she's out in the field and doesn't really get where to run after she hits, but she tries! That's how a lot of the kids are at that age.
It was a lot of fun going to her Field Day and cheering for her. She loves her school and her teacher, Mrs. Crank. She also loves that we do a babysitting co-op on Friday nights so she can play with her friends. She loves playing with Lydia and Kayli. We will really miss the Dyers who have been in it with us. They just moved to North Dakota. We love our ward so much, but sometimes it gets hard to see people come and go so often being with so many military folks. There are so many good people that we get to meet, but it gets hard to say good-bye so often to people.
Rylan loves his daycare at my school with his teacher, Miss Melody Wheeler with his buddies Jake, Morgan, and Shepherd. She always says he's such a good boy, so happy, always puts things on his head, always finds new tricks to do, and she thinks he'll be a gymnast because he's jumping and flipping and stuff all the time. He loves to play t-ball at the house. He absolutely loves his little sister Ava. He is always talking and playing with her and making her laugh.
Ava is already 5 months old and is such a joy. She is very expressive and loves to be talked to. She loves her attention, that's for sure. She is so stinking cute! If I'm tired or frustrated, I just look at her and feel so much joy and innocence. Babies and children are amazing in that they can make you feel so loved and give you perspective on everything and remind you of the purpose of life.
I still teach a few aerobics classes a week. Judd is doing a 3 months without sugar challenge with some people, but no thanks - count me out of that!
Judd and I are still teaching the 4-5 year olds in primary together and we have fun doing that.
We love taking family bike rides together. Judd pulls all 3 kids on his bike.
I love my family so much and am a very blessed mommy!

I took a new job for next year and am so excited about it. I worked at Captain Shreve High School for four years but will be teaching PE and First Baptist Church School private school for K-8 next year. It'll be great because I can have Rylan and the baby with me. I'm ready to get back into PE too work with little kids. The only slightly negative is coaching 5th and 6th grade basketball, but I'm sure I'll learn to love it. Brooke got into Arthur Circle's ECE so she'll be going there next year, which is great because it's free! yeah! I really feel that it was an answer to a prayer though and know that it's where I need to be.

We've been having these ward food storage firesides every month and I've been getting so much out of them. I'm slowly getting better at it all with little baby steps. Tonight it's on wheat! It's a topic I should know about rather well since it's my mom's favorite thing and she put it in everything we ate growing up - orange juice, brownies, you name it. I'm making wheat meat burgers tonight and making the wheat meat has been a pain so far. I seriously need to invest in an electric mixer. I've had to beat it with a rubber mallet, which on the plus side I got to get out some aggression. We'll see how it turns out.
I recently went to Painting with a Twist, a new store in town that gives you a canvas and paint and teaches you how to paint. It's so much fun to do with friends. I wish others could have made it but at least my girl Sue Ellen and I had fun. It turned out pretty good. It's even hanging up at the house.
We watched all the 10 kids for co-op Fri. night and it was quite memorable. There's a sandbox and kiddie pool in the backyard so together it's a recipe for disaster with no swimsuits on them. Needless to say they got all nasty and muddy and I wasn't about to bring them in the house and get it dirty too. So I had the bright idea to give them a bath on the trampoline together. They stripped down and Judd and I scrubbed them with soap and shampoo, hosed them down, and brought them in one at a time with a towel and put them in their pajamas. We had a pretty good system going and they kids had a blast slipping and sliding on the trampoline. It was hilarious and I think since they were all 5 and under it was okay.
My new obsession is with Everybody Loves Raymond. It is so stinking hilarious! I have to watch at least one episode before I go to bed at night to get a really good laugh in - not that I don't have them throughout the day with Brooke and Rylan. When I was single it was Friends but now that I'm married it is this. I guess we like what we can relate to.

I just posted 2 videos I found on lds.org that I love but don't know how to get them to show the full screen or to not play at the same time, so oh well. I'm going to leave them on there because I love their messages and hopefully others will too. You can just push pause on them to not hear them play at the same time and pause on the music too.
Anyways, today has been great. I'm really growing to love our 4-5 year old primary class more and more each sunday. Kids really get the gospel and they just say it like it is. They are so cute and funny and remind us of the simplicity of the gospel. I love teaching it with Judd too because it's neat to see him interact with the kids. He's so good with them and I love spending time with him. Brooke gave her first talk in Primary today and did such a good job. She talked about how the Holy Ghost guides and protects us.
The summer has been great so far! I am loving being at home and spending time with my adorable children. We are always finding fun things to do like go to the library, pool, indoor gyms, parks, gymnastics, the zoo, and anything else that will entertain them. I taught swimming lessons and am teaching gymnastics and water aerobics, playing on a tennis team, and taking online classes this summer too. I enjoy getting together with other moms and letting our kids play.
Brooke is "little mommy". She loves to help clean and help show her little brother how to behave. She helps me cook and loves to read her books. The playroom at our house has been the best thing for the kids! Rylan is our little crazy man. He is full of energy and life and goes non-stop. Literally we could just sit and watch him and be entertained for hours.
Judd has been so busy working on their new playset and it looks amazing so far. He already made a sandbox that they love too. Last night we had a great date night and Papa and Grandma Sandy watched the kids for us. We went to dinner and watched the movie "Grown Ups" with some friends and family and it was hilarious! We went to see Big Daddy and Grandma and Uncle Mike and Aunt Mel and Shalom last weekend and had fun playing tennis and playing in the pool!
Every Sunday we go to the Relief Society room during Sacrament meeting instead of the chapel because Rylan is a little rambuncious - sp?! We're always in there with Scott and Tracey and Bryce because he's a little wild man too. I've tried taking him in there but it's just so hard because he's everywhere and doesn't want to be still at all. Any advice out there?
We had a fun Maranto gathering at our house recently watching the World Cup. It was a lot of fun to get the cousins together to play. Dominik made some great burgers!
Judd recently went to Costa Rica with Jared to go surfing! How fun! I was really happy that he got to do that though! Especially since I'm going to Paris on July 7th for a few days for free. I got kids at my school to sign up for a Spanish trip to Costa Rica next spring break and this educational company was doing a promotion for first time teachers doing a trip to take them to a training tour to Paris if they got enough kids for their trip to sign up. I did it and even though I won't be teaching at Shreve next year I'm still going as a leader on the trip so am going. I'm excited but wish Judd could go too. My mom's nice enough to come up and watch the kids. I'm hoping I can make it out to Utah this summer too with the kids to visit Megan. It's been too long! We'll make a Dallas trip too to see some family soon and play!
My mother in law made this awesome cook book with great recipes that I've been using a lot actually. She's doing the 3 day walk for the cure - 60 miles - in November. I so wish I could do it with her but will be almost 9 months pregnant by then. We'll find out what we're having at my next doctor's appointment on July 6th. I can't wait to find out! I have some name ideas but any suggestions?
We're also enjoying doing the co-op babysitting switch every Fri. night. The kids are really good and have fun playing together and we love that we get some extra time together as well!
We planted our first garden this year and it's super tiny but we've actually gotten some stuff out of it, so we'll try to go bigger next year.
I still have lots of goals this summer - one of them being couponing. I really want to get it down but always feel so overwhelmed every time I try. I know it'll be worth it if I stick to it but it's just a little overwhelming.

Just the other day I was thinking to myself how lucky we are that Brooke has never colored on the walls. Well, as luck would have it that same day I fell asleep for a few minutes with Rylan and woke up to see blue marker all over Brooke's naked body and on the wall. She is definitely into coloring now and she did do a good job. I just kind of shrugged and said, oh boy it's bath time. She took an hour long bath and it still wouldn't come out completely! Story time at night is so fun because any time she says a word or gets anything right we hug and celebrate, it's so cute! I say I'm so proud of you, so she says that too! This morning I needed to finish getting her ready to go to work but she wasn't cooperating so I was counting to three but got stuck at 2 because she was so cute in her Princess house saying I see you mommy! We were dancing tonight and she starts shouting Go Mommy! Go Mommy! while clapping and stepping side to side like I was in the middle of a circle at a dance! It was hilarious! Rylan's going to have so much fun with his big sister!

Trip to Utah

I gotta say that I had so much fun in Utah with Megan and her family! I really like her man Bobby - he finally got my approval! I am so happy for her and she looked absolutely beautiful in her wedding dress and it was a wonderful reception. I love the snow up there but did not miss the cold! It was good to see my family up there as well and it was so nice to have my mom up there too. I missed Judd and Brooke terribly but Rylan was a great little travel buddy. I have so many memories of Utah and my college days! But could I ever live there now? It's just too far away.

I am exhausted, and they always say that when you're baby sleeps that you should be sleeping too. So I should really be in the bed right now, but I will write a bit in here first because I haven't in forever. I now have less than 2 weeks left of my maternity leave! Where has the time gone? It is going to be so hard to not be with that little one 24 hours a day! He is just so cute! He actually slept really well last night - meaning he only got up twice and after he ate he went right back down! It was great! But he's the easy one! Brooke is a doll but whoa momma is she a handful! For example, today to get her dressed I literally had to tackle her and sit on her - lovely picture I know! I managed to do her hair with ease but then she takes off her socks and shoes and won't eat her breakfast. She spilled my smoothie on the carpet and then it was off to the sitter's to give mommy a break. Today I watched the inauguration, rode my indoor bike, then went to Magnet to observe the gymnastics class that I am applying to teach next year, so we'll see about that. At home we watched Brooke's favorite show - The Wiggles, played with her toys, danced - her favorite activity, and she was naughty so I put her in time out on her stool in her room but then she didn't want me to come back in and was still sitting there, so I left for 5 minutes and I got worried because it was very quiet - never a good sign. I went inside and was horrified by both the sight and the scent! She had poo pooed and smeared it on the floor and was all over her. Mommy was not happy at all and had to deep clean the room and Brooke. She enjoyed dinner but definitely enjoyed her ice cream - she's like her mom in this regard. At the end of the night though, after the battle with her diaper and pijamas - she just melted my heart. She was an absolute angel getting ready for bed with brushing her teeth, giving kisses to everyone, reading books, saying prayers and saying I love you. It sure makes dealing with her crap - and I mean literally her crap - easy because she is just so precious and I love her so much!

Life is going good in the Maranto household. Judd is working hard as a landman for an oil company, and is enjoying his work there. He also is busy as the ward's Elder's quorum president. He's always finding time to serve others and has been helping out a lot lately with the hurricane relief lately. Brooke is still in the process of potty training. She went peepee in the potty today! She is the dancing queen - when the music come on she can really shake those hips. She is really excited to be a big sister and loves to kiss the baby in mommy's belly. I am due on January 4th and we've decided to name his Rylan Clint. We're very excited to have a little boy join our family! The school year is going good for me so far at Captain Shreve, but I am mainly just loving being a mom.

School's Out For Summer!

i have been having a great summer off from school. judd is now a college graduate and a working man. he loves it and i am so happy for him. i have just been having fun with brooke. she will be 2 in july and is quite the busy bee. she is full of energy, love the water, loves to color, to go to gymboree and have fun with family. she is excited to be a big sister. i am 10 weeks along and feeling pretty good for the most part.
